Increase Property Value and Your Quality of Life with Radiant Heat

If you’re like me, you’ve probably had it with winter. Christmas has come and gone, but the snow is still falling, and we’re still shoveling, scraping, and moaning and groaning. If you’re sick of the winter, your first thought might be to pack up and move to sunny Florida and come back when the sun comes out. But for those of us who aren’t quite to snowbird status, there’s an easier, more affordable way to make it through the harsh winter months: radiant heated driveways.

Heated driveways are an easy way to invigorate your home and increase your property value while making the winter months a little more bearable for you and your family.

Heated driveway systems aren’t just for new homes—they can be retrofitted into your current driveway, no matter what type or size of driveway you have. Whether it’s asphalt, brick, or concrete, you can enjoy the numerous benefits of a fully automated radiant heated driveway.

Besides convenience, heated driveways offer several benefits to your property. Installing a radiant heated driveway prolongs the life of your driveway by eliminating the need for harsh melting salts that can corrode your driveway and damage surrounding plants and grass over time. Additionally, heated driveways are a hot commodity these days, and installing one can boost your property’s value, making it easy to resell in the future once you’re ready to make the move to Florida.

Don’t waste time and money by packing up and moving to a sunnier climate. Improve the home you have now by installing a radiant heated driveway. I promise—once you say goodbye to shoveling and slipping on that nasty ice, you’ll have a whole new perspective on this whole winter thing. Let a heated driveway open new possibilities with your current home and learn to love winter again.

Lift Your Spirits With a Perfectly Snow-free Driveway all Winter Long

Feeling particularly blue on a blustery winter morning, I decided to get off the proverbial pity pot and make a list of the things I enjoy about winter. It went something like this.

Things that make me happy in the winter:

  • Sleeping in all morning while the snow melts on my driveway like magic
  • Taking my shovel to the dump
  • Leaving the cumbersome bag of salt on the shelf at the store
  • Keeping all my lovely bones in tact and avoiding unsightly bruises
  • Enjoying the snow how it was meant to be enjoyed—skiing, snowboarding, snowman building. NOT shoveling.
  • Owning a radiant heated driveway so I could make this list

Radiant Snow Melting - The Gift that Keeps on Giving

It’s getting deep into the season for heavy snow fall. You can’t turn on the news and not see some place getting hit hard with the white stuff. Brace yourself for a few more months of it. The meteorologists have been forecasting a wet winter for a while now. (I guess El Niño is visiting us folks in the Western U.S.) Fortunately, not all of us have to labor shoveling snow off of the driveways or sidewalks. Some lucky homeowners have snow melting systems that do all the snow removal for them.

Shoveling snow from driveway.Nothing could be easier than getting up in the morning and seeing a clear driveway on a snowy day. With radiant heat snow melting cable installed in your driveway (and/or sidewalks), your worries are gone. As the temperatures and conditions present themselves, the heated driveway system’s snow sensor triggers the unit, automatically activating the system and voila, and your wintery troubles melt away.

Radiant snow melting systems are the thing to have in this day and age of electronics. It’s the easy way to stay ice-free this winter. If you have just settled in for a long winter’s nap, don’t forget these systems can be installed over existing driveways. No need to pack up and build a new house. Put a radiant snow melting system on your Christmas list for next year. It really is the gift that will keep on giving.

Heated Driveway Means New Uses for Winter Clothes

January 04, 2010 00:01 AM  BY  JEN HALLAM

Try a Turn Around the Ice Rink or Down the Slopes Instead of Shoveling Snow

When the first blades of grass peak through the snow each spring I race to pack up my winter gear. No more bulky coats, itchy hats, or sweaty gloves. They will take a rest for a spell. And I will take a rest from the worries of winter and icy storms. I’m thinking this year I’ll reinvent the use for these bulky clothes. I’ve pulled them out of the winter box and hung them with care, knowing that this year the uses for them will be fun instead of work related. Having a heated driveway means I don’t have to haul out the mittens, coats, and hats to clear my driveway. The fully automated snowmelt system I have installed will do all the work for me.

Heated driveway system installed under brick paversThis year I’m going to put on that winter gear and slap on some skis, or maybe some ice skates and take a few turns around a rink. I’m going to smile while I wear this gear, instead of moan and groan as I push snow around the drive. My sidewalks will be happily clear too, thanks to my heated driveway system. The radiant heat cables lying snugly beneath my asphalt is doing all the hard labor for me, using minimal energy and taking cues from the smart snow sensor hung incognito on the roof beside my garage. I drive away on my driveway clear of snow and yelp with excitement as I get closer to the ski resort. This year my winter clothes are going to have some fun – and I am too!
